Question: Why isn't my topic on MedlinePlus?

Answer:

  • If you look for your topic and it isn't there, look for a more general topic. Or, use the MedlinePlus search, found at the top of each MedlinePlus page, to look for your topic.

  • For example, if you are looking for information on mosquito bites:

    • try the Insect Bites and Stings page; or

    • type the word mosquito into the Search box; the results of the search will lead you to the Insect Bites and Stings page and specific links about mosquitoes.

  • Sometimes there isn't enough quality Web-based information on a topic for MedlinePlus to cover it.

  • Use the Medical Encyclopedia to find more information.

    • A link to the Medical Encyclopedia is available from the Health Topics page; you will find a link back to the Health Topics page just below the header of every MedlinePlus page.
