Headquarters of the Office for Law Enforcement

As an agency within Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) the Office of Law Enforcement (OLE) is the lead agency responsible for the ecosystem protection and conservation of most of the United States living marine resources.

The OLE Headquarters Office is in Silver Spring, Maryland with 6 division offices located throughout the U.S. We currently employ over 200, with 150 Special Agents, 7 Enforcement Officers and 46 technical and support personnel.

Programs covered include:

  • Highly migratory species (HMS)
  • Protected resources (PR)
  • Training (located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center)
  • Computer support
  • Fiscal management
  • Vessel Monitoring System (VMS)

The OLE also has a Community Relations Team (CRT) consisting of a National Media & Constituent Affairs Officers with six division-level personnel that function as the division's Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) agents/officers.
