Data Sharing

The King County GIS Center recognizes the value and benefits which may be gained by sharing data with other organizations, and encourages data sharing whenever possible.  For King County, this enables access to highly-detailed, up-to-date information maintained by local jurisdictions, such as cities and utility districts. For those jurisdictions, data sharing makes available information for adjacent areas which is essential for planning and management purposes, but which they lack the resources to develop and maintain themselves. In addition, King County is able to obtain data for adjacent counties and other areas of the state when they are needed for County projects.

The King County GIS Center currently shares data on an informal basis with a variety of state, county, city, and utility organizations. An ongoing effort is underway to establish formal data sharing agreements with other governments and businesses within King County and the surrounding region. As these are implemented, they will be listed on this page.  Anyone interested in establishing a data sharing agreement with the King County GIS Center is encouraged to contact Greg Stought.
