The SIMA system requires licenses for imports of steel mill products for imports with duty computation dates on or after June 9, 2005. Details of the current system can be found in the interim final rule (19 CFR Part 360) published on March 11, 2005 (70 FR 12133).
This import licensing system website facilitates the monitoring of imports. It was amended in response to the Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) interim final rule. The SIMA system provides steel producers, steel consumers, importers, and the general public with accurate and timely information on anticipated imports of certain steel products.
