New Hampshire RC&D Receives Tops Honors

New Hampshire North Country Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) was recognized with three awards at the 2008 New England Regional RC&D Conference. The conference is held annually to showcase area RC&D Council’s projects as well as facilitate communication and feedback on Council projects.  This years’ conference, held in Mystic, Connecticut on October 23rd-25th, proved to be a milestone in the North Country RC&D council’s 40 year history.

Five Student Conservation Association (SCA) Interns Join NH NRCS

NRCS will receive support across the state from recent college graduates participating in the SCA's internship program. With previous interns' work proving a success, the program has expanded to include Soil Conservationist Aides, a Technology intern, and a combined Easement Monitoring and Assistant RC&D Coordinator position.

NRCS Scientists Add Amoozemeter to Soil Evaluation Tools

New Hampshire NRCS recently held a workshop on using the Compact Constant Head Permeameter (a.k.a. Amoozemeter) at the UNH Cooperative Extension building in Merrimack County, New Hampshire.  The Amoozemeter helps diminish the variability of soils data due to user technique.

Leaders gather at the National Association of Conservation Districts' Northeast Region Meeting

Northeast Conservationists Highlight Partnerships in Anticipation of 2008 Farm Bill

Representatives from nine states gathered in Portsmouth, NH last week for the annual National Association of Conservation Districts’ Northeast Region Meeting. Hosted by the New Hampshire Association of Conservation Districts, the three-day event emphasized emerging practices for energy conservation, innovative approaches to building partnerships, and successful conservation projects in the region.
