Snowpack well above 30-year average, normal spring runoff expected

Jan. 7, 2009 —In the first NRCS-AZ snowpack report for 2009, Jan. 1 snowpack measured at 248 percent of the 30-year average, compared with 98 percent a year ago. Despite the heavy early snowpack, the long-range forecast calls for normal to below normal streamflow levels for the spring runoff period.

Dec. 3, 2008 —The Natural Resources Conservation Service in Arizona will review all applications for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) received by Jan. 30. This is an extension from a previous ranking deadline of Dec. 5.

Wildlife Habitat in ArizonaWildlife Habitat Money and Technical Help Available

June 9, 2008 —NRCS-AZ has more than $557,000 available to help private and Tribal landowners develop and improve their wildlife habitat. Although WHIP applications are encouraged throughout the year, June 20 is the deadline for this round of WHIP assistance.

Dec. 28, 2007 — The USDA-NRCS is urging farmers and ranchers to participate in the 2007 Census of Agriculture. While the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is responsible for conducting the 2007 Census of Agriculture, NRCS and all U.S. Department of Agriculture agencies are helping get the word out about this important census.
