WELCOME!
This is YOUR National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office. The NWS Office in Tallahassee is one of the newest in the country, and we're proud of it. The facility you are about to tour is a result of some ten years of planning and a year and a half of construction. A few pictures were taken during the construction phase and are available at the end of the tour. The office was dedicated on April 19, 2002. Pictures of the dedication ceremony are available on a separate page.
As can be seen on the sign below, the NWS is one of the line offices of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which is itself a part of the Department of Commerce. During the tour we will take you through our office, showing various tools that forecasters use, such as doppler radar, weather balloons, and sophisticated computers.
It is suggested that you progress through each tour stop in order by using the previous and next buttons shown here.
However, you can jump out of sequence if you wish. Near the bottom of each tour page, there is a table of locations, or tour stops, with the current stop highlighted as shown below. To move to a different stop in the tour, simply click on that portion of the guide table. You may exit the tour at any point by selecting any of the navigation links along the left edge of each page or by clicking WFO Tallahassee Home, located near the top of each page. To take the tour, just click on the Begin Tour button below.
