Latest Newsletter for the President's Malaria Initiative Now Available

August 21, 2008 – The lastest edition of the newsletter for the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) is now available on-line.  The PMI is President Bush's $1.5 billion program to reduce the burden of malaria by 50 percent in 15 focus countries in sub-Saharan Africa.  RADM Tim Ziemer (U.S. Navy, retired), the President's Malaria Coordinator, just finished a three-country tour of Africa with Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Mike Leavitt, on which they visited PMI sites, and even participated in a house-to-house indoor residual spraying campaign against mosquitoes in the Republic of Mali.  HHS is one of the implementing partners of the PMI.
