Rapid Ride Blue Line (West Side to UNM)

The Route

Launched on July 7, 2007, the Rapid Ride "Blue Line" connects Albuquerque's West Side to the University of New Mexico campus.

Where does the Blue Line go?

The route originates at Coors By-Pass and Ellison (The Northwest Transit Center). Buses travel south on Coors, east on I-40, south on Rio Grande and east on Lomas to UNM. The route encircles UNM, serving both the hospital and main campus.

What are the Blue Line's hours of operation?

The Rapid Ride Blue Line runs from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; from 6 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

There are stops at:

  • Northwest Transit Center
  • 7 Bar and Cottonwood
  • Coors and Irving
  • Coors and Eagle Ranch
  • Coors and Montano Plaza
  • Coors and Dellyne
  • Coors and St. Joseph's
  • Coors and Sequoia
  • Old Town (Central and Rio Grande)
  • Lomas and 4th Street
  • UNM Hospital
  • UNM main campus (Central and Yale)

Are there any Park & Ride lots along the route?

The Northwest Transit Center is located on the corner of Coors By-Pass and Elison.

Does the Blue Line connect with the original Rapid Ride Red Line on Central?

Yes, the Rapid Ride Blue Line connects with the Rapid Ride Red Line 766 (Central) at two locations. The lines will meet at Old Town and UNM. The Blue Line also connects to the D-RIDE on Lomas.

Do stops on the Blue Line look like stops on the Central Rapid Ride line?

In the interest in getting the route running quickly, the new Rapid Ride began without the signature Rapid Ride shelters. However, the stops are in the plans and will be in place by 2008.

How much does it cost to ride the Rapid Ride Blue Line?

Fares on the Blue Line are the same as all other routes: $1 for adults, 35 cents for students and honored citizens. Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual passes are also available.
