What is Biodiesel?
Biodiesel is an alternative fuel made by refining renewable organic materials such as vegetable oils and animal fats.
Why is Biodiesel Better than Regular Diesel?
A 1998 study by the US Department of Energy and the US Department of Agriculture showed that biodiesel is cleaner than petroleum diesel. According to the study, biodiesel reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 78 percent compared to petroleum diesel! Why is it so much cleaner? Because biodiesel has a closed carbon cycle - the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere when biodiesel is burned is recycled by growing plants, which are later processed into biodiesel. - 1200 biodiesel-powered vehicles, including trash trucks, fire trucks, and street sweepers.
