The Executive for Architecture, Engineering and Technical Services (AETS) serves as the Chief Architect for the USPTO's IT Enterprise Architecture (EA) and reports directly to the CIO. AETS defines and evolves the enterprise architecture for USPTO-wide IT, ensuring the proper development of infrastructure while continuing to implement necessary upgrades and integrate applicable new technology to meet the Agency's business needs. Five senior managers and a senior level technical advisor support the Chief Architect in the overall management of EA initiatives.

AETS consists of five offices; Office of Technology Architecture & Engineering Services, Office of Applications Architecture & Services, Office of Data Architecture & Services, Information Technology Security Program Office, and the Center of Excellence for Technical Solutions & Services.
