The Agilent 4500 Series inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) is available for all research areas requiring analysis of trace metals in liquid samples. The equipment is equipped with an autosampler and a Cetac Technologies LSX-2000 laser ablation system for analyzing solid samples.

Sample Preparation Options

The laboratory that houses this instrument contains the necessary support items for sample preparation, including auto pippettes, a balance, nanopure water, and numerous calibration standards. All work with this ICP-MS and in the associated laboratory must be performed in compliance with EMSL practices and permits.

Individuals may use this instrument independently for their research, but in general EMSL staff assist external users with running samples on this system.
