Spending by older consumers: 1980 and 1990 compared

Estimates of expenditure and income suggest that today's older Americans have higher preretirement and pension earnings than their 1980 counterparts. This is especially true of those aged 65 to 74. This article updates estimates of expenditures and income for persons aged 65 to 74 and those aged 75 and older.
