General Rules for Acknowledging EMSL Use

Scientists who publish results of research using EMSL resources and capabilities are required are required to do the following.

  1. Include an acknowledgment of EMSL in any publications, including but not limited to journal articles, presentations, reports, proceedings, and book chapters, resulting from work performed here. For routine research, please use: "(A portion of) The research was performed using EMSL, a national scientific user facility sponsored by the Department of Energy's Office of Biological and Environmental Research located at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory."
  2. Upload publications, including but not limited to journal articles, presentations, reports, proceedings, and book chapters, to the EMSL User Portal

Note that if a Pacific Northwest National Laboratory or EMSL staff member is listed as a co-author, primary authors are required to notify the staff member prior to submission so that the publication can be reviewed and processed through PNNL's clearance system.
