Biosketch:
Kevin W. Ryan, Ph.D., earned his Ph.D. in Cellular & Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan in 1984. After postdoctoral training in molecular virology in the NIAID Intramural program, he joined St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis as a trainee in 1986 and joined the faculty there in 1989. Dr. Ryan worked at NIAID for 7 years, first joining the NIAID Scientific Review Program, and later moving to the Prevention Sciences Branch at NIAID, first as a Program Officer and in 2002 as Chief, with primary responsibility for administrative oversight of the HIV Prevention Trials Network. Dr. Ryan joined PAMA, NICHD in June 2005 as Deputy Branch Chief of PAMA. In addition to his laboratory background in molecular virology and vaccine vector design, Dr. Ryan has experience in the design and conduct of clinical trials for HIV prevention, and in the administrative, fiscal, and safety oversight of international HIV clinical trials and clinical trial networks. Dr. Ryan assists the Branch Chief in overall management of the Branch¿s research and grant portfolio.
