Global Change Research Information Office (GCRIO) logoGlobal Change Research Information Office (GCRIO) (US). As part of the US Global Change Research Program, the GCRIO serves as a clearinghouse for a wide variety of data and information on global change. This site is one of the GCRIO's primary conduits for such information. Notable are its searchable databases, educational resources, and its full online access to major publications.  Notable offerings include: (link verified 25 June 2008)

Global Change System for Analysis, Research and Training (START). START is sponsored by the Human Dimensions of Global Environment Change Program, International Geosphere-Biosphere Program, and the World Climate Research Program. START "focuses on global change issues in specific regional contexts and promotes interdisciplinary research, at a regional level, on the interactions of human and environmental systems affecting and being affected by global changes." This site is a rich and up-to-date source of information. It includes a list of upcoming events and many on-line documents. (link verified 25 June 2008)

Global Climate Observing System. System to "provide the observations needed to meet the scientific requirements for monitoring the climate, detecting climate change, and for predicting climate variations and change." Established by the World Meteorological Organization; the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); the United Nations Environment Program; and the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU).
