NLM to Serve as Host for ARL Career Enhancement Internship

The National Library of Medicine will serve as one of nine host institutions for the 2009 Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Career Enhancement Program. The program is funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services and ARL member libraries, and "offers MLS graduate students from underrepresented groups an opportunity to jump-start their careers in research libraries by providing a robust fellowship experience in an ARL member library."

The program includes a six to twelve week internship at one host research library, a mentoring relationship, leadership development, and career placement assistance. Participants are funded at over $10,000 in a package including stipend, academic expenses, housing, and travel and accommodations.

The deadline for 2009 program applications is October 1, 2008 and the complete application and information is available from ARL at http://www.arl.org/diversity/cep/.
