Large Turbine Technology Development

SNL will initiate and continue existing Collaborative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA) to support the development of new or improved wind turbine components or systems, or for the testing of developed turbine hardware. Through the CRADA process the program will request or conduct analysis to determine specific information on the impact of the project in developing land based, utility class wind energy technologies that will collectively reduce cost of energy of wind systems, partially focused at reducing the cost to 3.6ยข/kWh (expressed in 2002 dollars) in Class 4 wind regimes by 2012. All efforts will culminate in the advancement of current technology, and provide a measurable impact to future designs.
