Description

The Health Privacy Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising public awareness of the importance of ensuring health privacy in order to improve health care access and quality, both on an individual and a community level. The Project initiated and staffs the Consumer Coalition for Health Privacy, a diverse network of patient, disability and consumer advocacy organizations actively engaged in the national and local debate on health privacy. The mission of the Coalition is to educate and empower healthcare consumers to have a prominent and informed voice on health privacy issues at the federal, state, and local levels.

The Project provides health privacy related resources, including introductory materials, reports, testimonies, and editorials. Information is provided on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), how to file a HIPAA health information privacy complaint, myths and facts about the HIPAA Privacy Rule, and more.
