Description

The Illinois Department of Public Health is responsible for health promotion and disease prevention, health care regulation, and health care delivery services in Illinois. The Office of Health Care Regulation is responsible for assuring that a high quality of care is provided by health facilities within the State. The Office of Health Protection includes programs in the areas of environmental health and sanitation, food and drug safety, milk processing, infectious diseases, and epidemiologic studies. The Office of Health and Wellness provides health promotion and chronic disease prevention, violence and injury control, and the prevention and cessation of tobacco use, vision and hearing screening, dental health education, screening of infants for genetic problems. The Office of Women's Health provides breast and cervical cancer control and osteoporosis control.
