Description

The Society for Nutrition Education (SNE) promotes the nutritional well-being of the public through improved practice in education, research, and public policy. The Society conducts and promotes nutrition education research, and disseminates scientifically sound food and nutrition information. It also assists in policy development at the national and State levels. The audiences served by the Society have a diversity of needs and interests related to food, nutrition, and health. In addition to its members, those audiences include other nutritionists; legislators and other government personnel; food, health, and educational organizations; and consumers. The Society serves as an authoritative resource for health professionals, agriculturalists, the food industry, food service and educational systems. The Society's activities center on food and nutrition education programs for a variety of specific audiences; research; materials and skills development for professionals; and legislation and public policy. The work of the Society is carried out by affiliate groups and individual members throughout North America supported by professional staff. Staff are located in the headquarters office in Indianapolis, Indiana. SNE is a nonprofit organization funded by dues, subscriptions to the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, sustaining memberships, registration and exhibit fees at educational meetings, special project grants, and contributions.
