The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Millstone Special Projects Office will hold two meetings next week regarding recovery efforts at the Millstone nuclear power plant in Waterford, Conn. Northeast Utilities operates the facility.
On Monday, August 17, NRC staff and NU representatives will discuss the Independent Corrective Action Verification Program for Unit 2. That meeting will begin at 1 p.m. in training facility at the plant and will be open to the public for observation.
On Tuesday, August 18, NRC staff and NU representatives will review plans, schedules and progress toward the recovery of Millstone Units 2 and 3. (NU recently announced that the third reactor at the site, Unit 1, was being permanently shut down.) Topics will include the schedule and a status report of restart activities for Unit 2, as well as backlog management, performance indicators and the power ascension performance assessment for Unit 3. That session will get under way at 1 p.m. in the training center and also will be open to the public for observation.
