NRC NAMES CHARLES BROWN TO ITS |

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has appointed Charles Brown to its Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS), which advises the Commission on the licensing and operation of nuclear power plants, and related safety issues. Brown earned both a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering and a master of science degree in Engineering from the University of Louisville. He also earned a Certificate of Completion (Master of Science equivalent) in Nuclear Reactor Engineering from Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. Brown is a Senior Advisor for Electrical Systems at BMT Syntek Technologies, Inc. He has more than 35 years experience in engineering management including: involvement in policy setting and planning; technical direction for reactor plants and their instrumentations; control, protection, and technical systems equipment design; development and systems integration; procurement; and long-term support program management for all nuclear-powered ships for the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Program. He has received numerous awards including the Civilian Meritorious Service Award in 1999 and the Senior Executive Service Meritorious Executive Award twice; in 1988 and 1996.
