NRC ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON REACTOR SAFEGUARDS
TO MEET MAY 8-10 IN ROCKVILLE, MD.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) will hold a public meeting May 8-10 in Rockville, Md., to discuss, among other items, presentations by NRC staff and General Electric-Hitachi Nuclear Energy regarding selected chapters of the safety evaluation report for the Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor design certification application. In addition, there will be a review and discussion of the draft report on approaches for using probabilistic risk assessment methods for digital systems and the license renewal application for the Shearon Harris nuclear power plant.

Portions of this meeting, identified in the agenda, may be closed to protect proprietary information.

The ACRS advises the Commission on licensing and operation of nuclear power plants and related safety issues.
           
The meeting will be held in Room T-2B3 of the agency’s Two White Flint North building, at 11545 Rockville Pike. Thursday’s session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday’s session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday’s session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A complete agenda is available on the NRC’s Web site at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/acrs/agenda/2008.
