NRC 20TH ANNUAL REGULATORY INFORMATION CONFERENCE MARCH 11-13 |

The theme of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s 20th Annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC) March 11-13 will be Enhancing Safety During the Global Nuclear Renaissance. The RIC will be held at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road, Bethesda, Md. More than 2,300 people are expected to attend, including representatives from more than 25 foreign countries, the nuclear industry and congressional staff. Agency speakers at the conference will include NRC Chairman Dale Klein, Commissioners Gregory Jaczko and Peter Lyons, and Executive Director for Operations Luis Reyes. The conference brings together NRC staff, regulated utilities, nuclear material users and other interested stakeholders to discuss nuclear safety topics, significant and timely regulatory activities and allow informal dialogue to help ensure an open regulatory process. Registration is required, but the conference is free and open to the public. The RIC is a joint presentation of the NRC's Offices of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and Nuclear Regulatory Research. Onsite registration will be available during the conference. Topics at this year's RIC include: construction and licensing of new nuclear power plants; safe disposal of nuclear waste; advanced reactor designs to improve safety; security and emergency preparedness; safety research and international experience with operating reactors.
