NRC NAMES NEW SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR
AT BWXT FUEL PLANT IN LYNCHBURG |
||
The U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Stephen Subosits as the new Senior Resident Inspector at the BWX Technologies site in Lynchburg, Va. Subosits joined the NRC as a fuel facilities inspector in Region II in 2005. Prior to joining the NRC, he worked for 14 years for the Westinghouse Savannah River Company at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site. During that time, he held various engineering positions in the chemical separations and nuclear waste divisions at the site. He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. “Steve Subosits has a strong commitment to safety and his hard work and dedication will help ensure that this facility meets the high standards of the NRC,” said Region II Administrator Luis Reyes. Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors, and three of the NRC-regulated fuel cycle facilities in the U.S. have at least one resident inspector. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. |
