jkramerThe U.S.Nuclear Regulatory Commission has assigned John Kramer as senior resident inspector at the Comanche Peak nuclear plant, located near Glen Rose, Texas. He joins resident inspector Brian Tindell at the plant, which is operated by Luminant Generation Co.

“John Kramer’s experience, technical expertise and commitment to safety will help the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of Comanche Peak,” said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E. Collins.

Kramer joined the NRC in 1992 and has served as a senior resident inspector at the Fort Calhoun Station in Nebraska and as a resident inspector at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona and at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in California. In addition, he has served as a senior reactor analyst at NRC headquarters in Rockville, Md., and was a senior reactor operator at the Turkey Point Nuclear Plant in Florida. He holds a B.S. degree in engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Each of the country's commercial nuclear plants has resident inspectors who serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.

The resident inspectors at Comanche Peak can be reached at:  (254) 897-1500.
