029.iNuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Jeff Kulp as the new Resident Inspector at the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant in Lacey Township, N.J. He joins NRC Senior Resident Inspector Marc Ferdas at Oyster Creek.

Kulp first joined the NRC in June 2004 as a reactor inspector in the Division of Reactor Safety in the Region I office in King of Prussia, Pa. Prior to joining the NRC, Kulp served in the United States Navy for 20 years. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University and a Master’s in computer science from the Naval Postgraduate School.

"Jeff Kulp is an excellent addition to our team at Oyster Creek. He has the background, experience and commitment to safety that will help the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants," said NRC Region I Administrator Samuel J. Collins.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. Residents can serve up to seven years at any one site.

The Oyster Creek resident inspectors can be reached at 609/693-0702.
