NRC NAMES NEW SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR |

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has assigned Greg Warnick as senior resident inspector at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, located near San Clemente., Ca. He joins resident inspector John Reynoso at the plant, which is operated by Southern California Edison Co. “Greg Warnick’s experience, technical expertise and commitment to safety will help the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of San Onofre,” said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E. Collins. Warnick joined the NRC in 1997 and has served as a senior resident inspector at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona and as a resident inspector at the St. Lucie nuclear plant in Florida. He holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University. He recently received the Meritorious Service Award from the NRC for his outstanding contribution to public safety for his work at Palo Verde. Each of the country's commercial nuclear plants has resident inspectors who serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
