The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced today the selection of Thomas M. Boyce as Director of the Office of Information Services and Deputy Chief Information Officer. He succeeds Edward T. Baker who has been appointed Director for the Advanced Reactor Program in the Office of New Reactors. Boyce will assume his new role on February 4. “Tom brings over 30 years of experience in information technology and we look forward to his leadership in this important area at the agency,” said Darren Ash, Chief Information Officer and Deputy Executive Director for Information Services. Prior to joining the NRC, Boyce managed the largest grants management system in the federal government for the Electronic Research Administration Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program consists of a diverse range of customers and software applications for the electronic management of more than 110,000 research grants, which encompass $30 billion a year in grant payments. From 2002 to 2005, he was the Chief Information Officer for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Boyce began his government career at NIH initially with the National Institute of General Medical Sciences Information Resources Management Branch, and later as a Senior Enterprise Project Manager for the NIH Center for Information Technology, where he managed enterprise-wide information technology projects. Boyce received his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland, University College in College Park, Md. He is a Certified Project Management Professional and Senior Fellow of the Council for Excellence in Government. |
