First Time User Instructions for EHD Folder View Software

Requirements for Accessing the EHD Folder View:

I. One-Time Download of EHD Software

In order to access the Electronic Hearing Docket (EHD) Folder View, you must first install client software. Once the EHD client software is installed you can browse docket folders, search for documents based on defined criteria, and then view, print locally, or download the files to your local workstation.

Step 1: Select this link to the EHD Client and save the file to your local drive.

Step 2: Locate the downloaded file (fncontrols.exe) and execute it. Follow the install instructions to load the ActiveX controls onto your workstation.

Step 3: If instructed to restart your computer after the software is installed please do so and then return to the Electronic Hearing Docket web page. If you are not instructed to restart your computer you may go to the EHD library by selecting the Libraries button in the left frame of this web page.

II. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or Higher with JavaScript and ActiveX Enabled

Currently the EHD client only supports Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher with Javascript and ActiveX enabled. Follow the instructions below to enable these features and consult your network administrator about potential security risks.

A. Enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer

  1. Select Tools, then Internet Options from the menu at the top of the Internet Explorer window. The Internet Options window will appear.
  2. Select Security from the list of tabs at the top of the Internet Options window. The Security tab will appear.
  3. Select the Custom Level button. The Security Settings window will appear.
  4. Scroll down to the Scripting of Java applets entry (near the bottom of the scrollable list) and select the enable radio button.
  5. Select the OK button to accept the changes.

B. Enable ActiveX in Internet Explorer

  1. Select Tools, then Internet Options from the menu at the top of the Internet Explorer window. The Internet Options window will appear.
  2. Select Security from the list of tabs at the top of the Internet Options window. The Security tab will appear.
  3. Select the Custom Level button. The Security Settings window will appear.
  4. Scroll down to the Download signed ActiveX controls entry and select the prompt radio button.
  5. Scroll down to the Run ActiveX controls and plugins entry and select the enable radio button.
  6. Select the OK button to accept the changes.

III. Adobe Reader to Display Documents in Portable Document Format (PDF)

All documents in the EHD library are in PDF format and require the user to have Adobe® Reader® installed on their workstation in order to view the documents. The Adobe® Reader® can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com exit icon.
