Domestic Violence

Victim Advocate Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in the Volunteer Program within the Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy Unit of the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Our office typically conducts one 36-hour volunteer training session each fall but will not be holding a training in the fall of 2008. If you are interested in volunteering with the Domestic Violence Unit please feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Sandra Shanahan at Sandra.Shanahan@kingcounty.gov. Please note that because we will not be hosting a training this fall, priority will be given to individuals who have already completed a Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy Training sponsored by a community based domestic violence agency.

We have a variety of opportunities for volunteers including:

  • College/graduate school internships
  • Traditional volunteer placements
  • JustServe Americorps positions*

The following links will provide an outline of volunteer opportunities related to the different areas where we utilize volunteers:

Volunteers are needed between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. If you are interested in learning more about our volunteer opportunities or would like an application for our upcoming training, please e-mail Sandra Shanahan or call 206-296-9700.

Fore more information, see: Office Overview.

* JustServe Americorps positions are initiated through the JustServe Program at the Fremont Public Association (external link). If you have any questions or wish to have an application mailed to you about Americorps, please call the JustServe staff at 206-675-3200.
