  Question
Can I speak to the person or Appeals Council member who is working on my case?
  Answer
Discussions with Appeals Council members or their staff concerning your case are not normally permitted. The Administrative Procedure Act prohibits us from discussing your case with you or your representative. We suggest that you put any statements or questions you have in writing and submit them to the Appeals Council so they may be made part of the record and considered by the Council. The Appeals Council will address these statements either separately or in our notice to you.
