Abstract: Bibliographic information and abstracts on affordable - housing resources encompass cost - saving design and technology, local actions to promote affordable housing, new financing mechanisms to reduce housing costs, case studies of projects that have provided affordable housing, and outreach materials. The 10 items in the section on cost - saving design and technology focus on new methods and materials that can help designers and builders produce safe, environmentally sound houses rapidly and at low cost. In the section on local actions to promote affordable housing, 20 resources, targeted to citizens and government officials at the State and local levels, focus on regulatory review and reform. The eight items dealing with financing describe new financing mechanisms that can reduce the cost of housing to the consumer. In the next section, five case studies describe the results of demonstration projects around the country. The final section lists eight outreach resources, including audiovisual programs, information kits, and consumer guides. All materials were produced between 1980 and 1984. An order form is provided.
