Holiday Message
Hello. I'm Dave Lauriski, head of the Mine Safety and Health Administration.

The holiday season is upon us and we're in the midst of one of the most happy times of the year for most Americans.

While you enjoy the precious moments with friends and family that this season brings, we want all miners and mine operators to keep proper focus on workplace safety.

Stay mindful of the potential hazards and dangers in the mining workplace that can bring unwanted tragedy to our lives. As we celebrate, lets remain diligent in our efforts to protect the safety and health of all miners.

It's quite easy to lose focus on matters that may seem routine. During times like this, our thoughts are frequently elsewhere rather than on important duties you may be performing. Try to maintain your focus on safety by taking a minute to think about the task at hand as you go about your daily work.

Give proper attention to safety during this wonderful season and lets make sure we send every miner safely home for the holidays. We at the Mine Safety and Health Administration extend seasons greetings to all. And always remember--safety is a value.
