Green-Chasman Library Overhaul Complete

After receiving new carpeting, ceiling tiles, window blinds, paint, and more, the revamped Green-Chasman Library on the NSLS experimental floor is open again. With the assistance of Plant Engineering and NSLS volunteers, the half wall and platform near the front door of the library were removed, bookcases were rearranged, excess file cabinets were taken away, old periodicals were scanned to a computer file, and the reference books were sorted and arranged for easy access. In addition, a viewing screen was installed at the north end of the room, and a projector is on order. Wireless Internet access is available for users with laptops, and two computers are available for open use.

“These renovations will result in a warm, quiet, and friendly atmosphere to gather and relax or just get away from the busy life of running an experiment,” said NSLS Building Manager Bob Kiss.

More additions – including a ping-pong table – are on the way.
