Data Forums and Activities

OSTI participates in several arenas related to access, preservation, and management of primary research data. These arenas include workshop activity, interagency working groups, and groups related to data management across the international scientific community.

  • The Interagency Working Group on Digital Data (IWGDD)

Established by the National Science and Technology Council's Committee on Science in the fall of 2006, the IWGDD's mission is to “develop and promote the implementation of a strategic plan for the federal government to cultivate an open, interoperable framework to ensure reliable preservation and effective access to digital data for research, development, and education in science, technology, and engineering.”

  • CODATA [Exit federal site]

The Committee on Data for Science and Technology is an interdisciplinary Scientific Committee of the International Council for Science (ICSU). It works to improve the quality, reliability, management, and accessibility of data of importance to all fields of science and technology.

  • Workshops
