  • Industry Circular 2008–3, Non-Compliant Flavored Malt Beverages 
    This industry circular reminds brewers, importers, and others of the strict limitations that apply to the use of flavors and other nonbeverage ingredients containing alcohol in the manufacture of flavored malt beverages (FMBs).  This circular also advises industry members of TTB’s position regarding non-compliant FMBs and the serious consequences that will result from failure to comply with the regulations that govern the manufacture of FMBs.   • Registration Still Open for Final 2008 COLAs Online Workshops
    TTB is hosting the last COLAs Online Workshops in Charlottesville, Virginia and Boston, Massachusetts.  There is no cost to attend these workshops, but registration is required. Read more. (07/11/08)
  • TTB Ruling 2008–3, Classification of Brewed Products. 
    TTB has issued a ruling to clarify that certain brewed products that are classified as “beer” under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 do not meet the definition of a “malt beverage” under the Federal Alcohol Administration Act. (07/07/08)
  • Industry Circular 2008–2, Brunello di Montalcino Wine
    This circular serves as notice that beginning on June 23, 2008, importers of Brunello di Montalcino wine must have in their possession, at the time of release from customs custody, a declaration from the Government of Italy that states that the wine is entitled to bear the Brunello di Montalcino designation.   • Repeal of Special (Occupational) Tax on Alcohol Occupations
    Section 11125 of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act permanently repeals, effective July 1, 2008, the special (occupational) taxes on certain businesses in the alcohol industry.  Read more.  (06/06/08)
