About the Office: The Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are recruiting for an attorney for the Saipan Branch Office for a term appointment of one (1) year. The office employs a total of six permanent employees including three Assistant United States Attorneys. The U.S. Attorney for the District of Guam also serves as the U.S. Attorney for the District of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Responsibilities and Opportunity Offered: This position will devoted exclusively to enforcement of federal laws addressing the Labor, Immigration and Law enforcement Initiative . The successful candidate will have a broad background in labor and immigration prosecution.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State, territory, or District of Columbia, and have at least one year post-J.D. experience. Applicants must be active members in good standing of the bar (any jurisdiction). Ideal qualifications include at least 3-5 years of post-J.D. litigation experience and excellent computer skills including experience with computer legal research, electronic court filing, e-mail and word processing applications.

Applicants must demonstrate a quick analytical ability and the facility to accurately and precisely articulate the critical issues in a case. Applicants must demonstrate superior oral and writing skills as well as strong research and interpersonal skills, and good judgment. Applicants must possess excellent communication and courtroom skills and exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff and client agencies. Applicants must have a demonstrated capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment.

Travel: Occasional travel may be required.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorneys' pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay for this position is $42,684 to $125,938 plus 25% COLA .

Location: Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. Located approximately 3,300 miles West of Hawaii, 1,500 miles East of the Philippines and 1,550 miles South of Japan

Diving, snorkeling, fishing and all other water sports are popular pastimes. The island has a developed tourist industry offering tourist and residents a wide variety of entertainment and dining experiences.

The climate is tropical, moderated by northeast trade winds. The dry season is from January to June, rainy season from July to December, with little seasonal temperature variations.

Housing is readily available within a short commute (15 minutes or less) from the United States Attorney’s Office.

Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized.
