HIV Vaccine
Awareness Day

May 18, 2006

HIV Vaccine Awareness Day logo May 18 marks the ninth annual observance of HIV Vaccine Awareness Day. On this day, community activities and media events around the country will focus on educating people about the importance of HIV vaccine research. It's also a day to recognize and thank volunteers, community members, health professionals, and scientists for their continued commitment to finding a vaccine to prevent the spread of HIV.

A preventive HIV vaccine offers the best hope for controlling the AIDS pandemic. On May 18, wear your red AIDS ribbon upside down—forming a "V" for vaccine—as a sign that you share the hope of victory in finding a vaccine to prevent HIV infection.
