Funding
Opportunities in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska
Covering Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, the estuarine and riverine habitats of the Northwest Region are as diverse as the fisheries they support. Including coastal wetlands, shellfish reefs, salmon streams and streambanks, the Northwest Region contains a multitude of restoration opportunities. Since 1996, the Northwest region has supported more than 300 community restoration projects benefiting over 1,400 acres of estuarine and riparian habitat and opening approximately 400 miles of in-stream salmon habitat. NOAA has contributed more than $8 million for restoration activities in the Northwest Region with partners providing an additional $20 million in non-federal cash and in-kind match. In addition, almost 15,000 volunteers have donated more than 150,000 hours of work.

Nationwide
Funding Opportunities
The NOAA Community-based Restoration
Program (CRP) is a financial and technical assistance
program authorized under the Magnuson-Stevens Reauthorization Act of 2006, which helps communities implement sound
habitat restoration projects. The CRP awards millions
of dollars to national and regional partners and
local grassroots organizations every year. Under
a competitive review process, projects are selected
for funding based on ecological benefits, technical
merit, level of community involvement, and cost-effectiveness.
Although the CRP program encourages meeting a minimum
one-to-one match, projects have typically leveraged
$3 to $5 non-federal dollars for every NOAA dollar
invested.
Regional
funding opportunities are also available through
NOAA Restoration Center Partnerships that have open
competitions for restoration grant funds throughout
the year.

Regional
Funding Opportunities
In addition to nationwide
funding opportunities, regional funding opportunities
are available through NOAA Restoration Center Partnerships
that announce open competitions for restoration
