Very soon after
the tragic events of September 11, 2001, our nation's flag appeared
on this small boat anchored in the middle of the Delaware River at Washington
Crossing.
It seemed fitting to find the American flag flying here because this is the spot where George Washington led a group of heroes across an icy Delaware on Christmas Night, 1776, in pursuit of freedom.
We mourn the innocent lives senselessly lost on September 11 ... many of them heroes, too. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims, the survivors who escaped the attacks, the rescue workers, and with all those who continue to heroically risk their lives in pursuit of freedom.
