Eating Smart: A Nutrition Resource List for Consumers - By the Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC), reliable general nutrition and healthy eating resources for consumers. Includes books, newsletters, and WWW materials.
FNS - Women, Infants and Children Program - has a mission to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care.
FNS Online - Child Nutrition Programs - provide healthy, nutritious meals and snacks to the nation’s children. Through the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, school children have access to healthy meals. Through the Special Milk Program, school children who do not have access to other meal programs can supplement their day with a serving of milk.
FNS Online - Food Stamp Program - Provides good service and helps food stamp customers get informational materials; the Food Stamp Program (FSP) provides a toll free 800 number (1-800-221-5689). Customers who want easy, 24-hour a day, 7 days a week, access to information about the FSP can take advantage of this service.
FNS Online - Nutrition Assistance Programs - increases food security and reduces hunger in partnership with cooperating organizations by providing children and low-income people access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education in a manner that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence.
Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) - FNIC's web site provides links to credible, up-to-date, and practical resources for use by consumers, nutrition and health professionals, educators and government agencies. Exclusive to the FNIC web site content, are extensive resource lists on specific food and nutrition topics.
Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services - ensures access to nutritious, healthful diets for all Americans. Through food assistance and nutrition education for consumers, FNCS encourages consumers to make healthful food choices. Today, rather than simply providing food, FNCS works to empower consumers with knowledge of the link between diet and health, providing dietary guidance based on research.
