Celebrate Earth Day with King County

Join King County for an Earth Day celebration on Tuesday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Westlake Plaza in downtown Seattle at Fourth Avenue and Pine Street.

The event includes displays and information from the county’s Department of Natural Resources and Parks and the Department of Transportation. Metro will be there with a "green bus" you can tour, and information on how to green-up your commute.

Elliott Bay Water Taxi begins 2008 season this weekend

The Elliott Bay Water Taxi launches its 2008 season this Sunday, April 27, providing sailings between Seacrest Dock in West Seattle and Pier 55 in downtown Seattle.

Just like last season, Argosy Cruises will operate the Water Taxi service using the 250-passenger MV Sightseer. Boats will depart about every 40 minutes during commute hours and hourly during the middle of the day.

Also returning is the free shuttle van service – operating as Metro Route 773 – which provides a direct connection to the Admiral District, the West Seattle Junction, Alki and Harbor Avenue.

The regular fare for the Elliott Bay Water Taxi is $3 one way for anyone over the age of 5. Passengers with a valid Metro transfer pay just $1. Also accepted for full fare are PugetPasses, FlexPasses, Metro Access Passes, Visitor Passes, Vanpool Passes, Saturday/Sunday Day Passes, and Regional Reduced Fare Permits with a valid monthly or annual sticker. The 2008 Water Taxi season runs through Friday, Oct. 31.

There will be a community celebration for the new season on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. at Seacrest Marina Park. There will be music, family activities, and free rides on the Water Taxi all day.
