News from King County Department of Transportation
Release date:
May 1, 2008

Daily closures scheduled for
Vashon Highway May 5-9

The Vashon Highway along Quartermaster Harbor will be closed daily between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 9. The highway will be closed between Southwest 228th Street and Southwest Burton Drive.

During the closure, crews from the King County Road Services Division will be repairing both above and below the highway surface. A drainage pipe under the roadway has deteriorated and washed out the shoulder of the road. Further erosion could damage the surface of the highway or cause it to collapse. The repairs include installing a new drainage system and repaving that stretch of roadway.

Motorists can detour via Southwest Burton Drive to 107th Avenue Southwest and Southwest 228th Street.
