ROAD
ALERT SPOTLIGHT
Travel conditions in King County
steadily improve,
but several road problems remain
The heavy rain is finally over, and that means
King County can begin drying out and cleaning up from the worst
storm of the season. The
Road Services Division reports travel conditions throughout the
county are generally improving this evening - but plenty of road
problems remain.
Many roads in King County remain closed tonight - including several in the Snoqualmie Valley underwater due to flooding along the Snoqualmie River. And it's possible additional roads may need to be closed overnight as the peak flows make their way downstream to Carnation and Duvall.
Road crews will be patrolling throughout the
night looking for trouble spots and opening or closing roads as
conditions change. However, even with improving conditions, many
motorists headed out for the morning commute will still have to
contend with road closures and detours in some areas. The county
continues to remind motorists never to drive
around barricades or through standing water - this is how most lives
are lost during floods.
Motorists should continue to
monitor the weather and the latest King County Road Alerts as they
prepare to head out for the morning commute. They are also
encouraged to report road
problems by calling 206-296-8100 or 1-800-KC ROADS. Road alerts and
other updated information will also be posted on King County’s
Web site, King County
Department of Transportation’s
Web site,
and regional alerts via the
Regional Public Information Network.
