I can't find a specific publication. Where else can I look?

Try our listing of all our publications (listed by item number) or our most popular publications. You may also try entering keywords in the search box.

If you saw a publication mentioned in Parade Magazine or Dear Abby, take a look at our Free Publication Offers page.

Additionally, you may want to check out the U.S. Government Bookstore.

Why aren't all publications available in PDF?

If the publication's sponsoring federal agency creates a PDF version, we will offer it online. On each of our topic pages, look for the link "A pdf version is available" after the description.

You can download the latest Adobe Reader on the Adobe website.

How do I download the text of a publication to my computer?

Open the publication in your favorite browser. Most browsers allow you to save the current document by simply going under the File menu and then selecting "Save As".

To save a link:

In Netscape or Firefox, you can right-click while the mouse is positioned on the link, and then select "Save Link As". You should be prompted for the name and location on your computer where you want to save the document.

If you are using Internet Explorer, the process is the same. The only difference is that instead of "Save Link As", you would select "Save Target As".

Can I distribute the information in your Catalog?

The publications distributed through the FCIC are published or sponsored by a variety of Federal and private-sector organizations. In most instances, FCIC is not the publisher and cannot provide legal advice pertaining to the legality of the sale or further use of the information. While most of the information is in the public domain and can be copied and used for educational purposes, we can't provide a blanket assurance that all of the information is in that category. If you are planning to copy and distribute this information, especially for profit, it would be prudent to contact the federal agency that published the information for permission and to consult a lawyer.

Please feel free to link to our site.
