Commercialization of Laboratory Developed Technologies

Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s licensing program provides companies with opportunities to acquire commercial rights in ORNL patents and copyrights. Licenses may be non-exclusive or exclusive, depending on the nature of the intellectual property and the business fields to be actively pursued by the Licensee. License terms are negotiated on an individual basis between the Office of Technology Transfer and the prospective licensee.

If you are interested in licensing an ORNL developed technology, the first step is to contact our office with your request. The Commercialization Manager who has responsibility for the technology will then contact you to discuss the nature of your interest. During this process you will be asked, at the appropriate time, to complete a licensing questionnaire that will provide a framework to assist with development of appropriate business terms.
