ORNL weigh-in-motion system could increase military mobility
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Dec. 30, 1999 — Armed with an automated weigh-in-motion system being developed at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), U.S. military forces could increase mobility and decrease mistakes when loading vehicles on transport planes and ships.

Boatner named fellow of American Ceramic Society

The public is invited. The title of her talk is "Behind the Scenes to the Forefront - the Last 20 Years." Women's History Month provides an opportunity to showcase careers for women. The committee is composed of ORNL Workforce Diversity representatives and members of the Committee for Women. Dr. David Moncton to become SNS Project Director
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Feb. 23, 1999 — Dr. Alvin W. Trivelpiece, Director of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has announced that Dr. David E. Moncton will become Project Director for the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) at ORNL. Dr. Moncton succeeds Dr. Bill Appleton, who was promoted to the position of Deputy Director of ORNL for Science and Technology.

Miller reappointed to National Research Council committee
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Feb. 15, 1999 — John C. Miller, senior research staff member and head of the Biochemistry and Biophysics Section of the Life Sciences Division at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been recently reappointed to a three-year term on the National Research Council's (NRC) Committee on Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Sciences. The committee is a standing NRC Committee funded by the DOE, Basic Energy Sciences and the National Science Foundation.
