  • SEASTAR/SeaWiFS. The SeaStar spacecraft, developed Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) that provides data on global ocean bio-optical properties.
  • SEAWINDS-1A. SeaWinds is a weather radar that measures oceanic winds.
  • Terra. The first Earth Observing System satellite "designed for a comprehensive check up of planet Earth."
  • TOPEX/Poseidon. Project centered around satellite that measures global sea level. It is a cooperative effort originating with NASA's TOPEX (an Ocean TOPography EXperiment) and with the Poseidon oceanography mission launched by the French space agency CNES.
  • Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM)
  • Quick Scatterometer (QuikSCAT). "Quick recovery" mission to fill the gap created by the loss of data from the NASA Scatterometer (NSCAT), when the satellite it was flying on lost power in June 1997. Launched in 1999, the QuikSCAT carries a "specialized microwave radar that measures near-surface wind speed and direction under all weather and cloud conditions over Earth's oceans."
